Better Pictures Finished Top

Perhaps if we don't talk about it and thereby jinx something, the lovely - warm - open the windows - weather will be here to stay. No coat was needed when I took Miss Chloe for her morning constitution yesterday. YES YES! I am beyond tired of bundling up.

Howard came with us and took these pictures of my Vogue 9089 top with the Burda 7062 pants. With sunlight. From the front. Shadows behind me. You can see the details much better now. I think the length is about perfect. At breakfast, I asked my son's girlfriend if I looked like I was wearing a maternity top and she said definitely not and she loved the pants. This is good.

Lately, I've been picking a lot of garments with single layer cutting plans. The last one had fifteen pieces. This one is a mix. The collar, front, sleeves, and button band are cut double layer and the left, right, and center backs are cut single layer. The middle back is where I've placed the pin. I used running stitches in pearl cotton to accentuate the design lines. They are enough to add interest without glaring. In the back...

... I made three little Xs with the left one above center back and on the collar points I attempted some seed stitch - something I've never done before and - LOL - I need some practice.

Miss Chloe wanted her picture taken as well. She said it may not look like it but really she's blowing you a kiss Steph and thanks for all the hugs. She was her usual cuddly self yesterday  although - VBG - she thankfully did not buy me a card for Mother's Day, I actually saw one at the store from the dog. Really! Whenever someone calls me her Mom, I say that would make me a b-witch and I may be but...

Talk soon - Myrna

Grateful - a wonderful Mother's Day

  1. Great-looking outfit, Myrna. The top is very flattering, and I like your subtle stitch embellishment. And you don't need to worry about skinny pants -- they look terrific on you!

    1. Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. Not that I want to go all the way over to skinny pants all the time but it's nice to have that variety.

    1. A running stitch is surprisingly quick and easy. It was a good place to start.

  8. Chloe i love you too!!! mmmwaahmmmmwaahmmmwuuhhhmmmwaahsmooch! (okay, i'm a sucker for dogs. Spent yesterday with mom and her two cairns - cannot be beat!)

Myrna, look at you! This outfit is a fantastic example of my all-time-favorite looks and what i always strive to achieve. Your clothes are VERY original and artsy and ooze creativity, they are also as flattering as they could be, and the whole look has an ease and appropriateness to your personality, the environs and your activities. So many looks out there are very flattering but nothing original, or very arty but the clothes wear the person, or it's great but completely off the wall (ballgown in the produce section syndrome).

What you have here is from a whole nother planet - the planet Myrna! haha, really though i don't know about your feelings but to me this combo is the flat out epitome of what a person can do with clothes.

And i am stealing the handstictching you did on the collar. Don't try to stop me :) Like Gayle you've moved that shirt onto my 'absolutely must do' list - the silhouette from the back especially is so pretty! And it is wonderful to be able to see your clothes in all their glory - big step up in photography, nicely done!

Well i;m sure you have other things to do besides listen to me gush - but couldn't stop myself. Have a great day!!

    1. Gushing is good. No problem. I'm definitely not adverse to compliments and it's nice to have found a balance to keep working toward. Thanks for the feedback. You'll love the hand stitching. It's your thing.
